Rhododendron breeding and testing nursery "Babīte" celebrates its 36
years of existence. Currently it is the only specialized rhododendron
nursery in the Baltic countries, where besides rhododendron selection
work is done also complex study of the rhododendron genus and it is
a place where to buy rhododendron plants. Over the past thirty years
has been made a significant open-air collection of rhododendrons with
74 wildlife species of rhododendron and 200 varieties. Of these, 78
are local breeding varieties (breeder Rihards Kondratovičs) in 2015..
How to get to "Babīte"?? With trains Riga - Jurmala, Jurmala - Riga
to the railway station Babīte. With 4th and 13 bus to Vārnukroga road.
With car from Babīte - driving in Vārnukroga direction. Farm is open
from 9.00-17.00 and Saturday from 9.00-15.00 during sale of plants,
it is in spring - April, May and in autumn - September, October. During
flower blossing farm is open from 9:00 to 16:00 every day, (also on
Saturdays and Sundays). Sale of rhododendron plants. Entrance: Adults,
1.50LVL; Pensioners, students, 1.00LVL; Pupils, 0.50LVL.
