Mētriena parish is located in the south-eastern part of Madona district, bordering four parishes of Madona district - Barkava, Murmastienes, Łaudonas and Prauliena parishes - and two parishes of Jēkabpils district - Mežares and Atašienes. The distance from the village of Metriena to the center of Madona district - Madona - is 24 km, to Riga - 185 km. Teici nature reserve - the largest moss bog in the Baltics( 19 779 ha) .
