Description

The building was once built as a guard house( architect V. Vitand), it was discovered in 1935. year. The soldier's tab above the entrance door still reminds us of the needs of that time( sculptor K.Zemdega) . At that time, the Madona guard house was the largest new building in Latvia outside of Riga. The building underwent extensive reconstruction works after 2005., when the wind tore off the roof of the building during a January storm. During this time, the idea of raising the building and building an additional floor arose, the idea was successfully implemented. Currently, the building houses the Madonna Culture House, the registry office and the children and youth center. Madonna's House of Culture is home to around 20 amateur art collectives, a folk art studio and is the city's central cultural event venue.
